In 2022, Associate Professor Dr. Chutinuch and her research team were awarded research funding under the auspices of the Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMUA) by the Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), Program 13 – Innovation for local economy and social innovation, utilizing science, research, and innovation, Platforms 4: Research and Innovation for spatial development and reducing inequality in fiscal year 2022. Research plan for the project to upgrade entrepreneurs and the Trang pepper production process using the identity of wisdom to premium production standards. We have provided basic knowledge training in many aspects of organic agriculture, such as basic knowledge of organic agriculture. Making organic fertilizer and evaluating organic farming until receiving a certificate to accept organic farming. Which requires about 3 training sessions and has to do it continuously and have a true understanding of organic farming. There will be sub-activities in training on international organic farming standards and guidelines and courses on international organic farmer standards between 13 – 19 October 2022 at Thammarin Thana Hotel, Mueang District, Trang Province.

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya draws upon its wealth of experience in project management to bolster the competitive capabilities of both farmers and entrepreneurs. This strategic endeavor is centered on the development of premium-grade products derived from the Palian pepper variety. The primary objective is to facilitate increased product sales for farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in the pepper business by elevating the product quality to a premium level. This effort is anchored in the exceptional attributes of Trang pepper, which are cultivated from local plants and enjoy the status of Geographical Indication (GI) in Trang Province. This approach is meticulously tailored to align with an in-depth study of the behavior and preferences of premium market consumers. Notably, the research has revealed that this particular consumer segment places paramount importance on raw materials sourced from local plantations cultivated by community-based farmers. The key criteria in this regard encompass adherence to organic farming practices and the adoption of environmentally-friendly production processes, emphasizing a “Low Carbon Footprint.” Furthermore, the fact that the pepper thrives on trees with a lifespan exceeding a century has garnered significant attention within the premium consumer market segment.

In order for farmers and entrepreneurs to successfully penetrate premium markets, a set of specific criteria must be met. Farmers are required to cultivate Thai pepper using organic farming practices to ensure that their products meet the global standards or receive awards certifying their exceptional quality. A thorough examination of foundational data has unveiled the inherent potential of farmers and entrepreneurs to elevate their products into the premium market. Consequently, the research team has initiated a project aimed at advancing both the capabilities of entrepreneurs and the production processes related to Trang pepper. This endeavor is structured around the utilization of indigenous knowledge and the transformation of production standards to premium levels. The project is set to unfold in the year 2025 with the overarching goal of enhancing the value of these products. By nurturing the growth of farmers and entrepreneurs, the project is positioned to elevate their income levels, contributing to the economic prosperity of those engaged in the value chain. The ultimate aim is to promote the development of grassroots economies and communities within Trang Province. These activities are strategically aligned with the predetermined research objectives, ensuring that the research is conducted in accordance with its stated mission. Therefore, the research team is actively engaged in conducting training sessions designed to promote organic farming practices within the community. These efforts are undertaken as part of the project that seeks to empower both farmers and entrepreneurs involved in the Thai pepper industry. The project embraces a mission to infuse indigenous wisdom into the production process, propelling the production standards to the realm of premium quality, please click on the link below.
