Details: The Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) promotes student representation to manage operational benefits and student welfare at two levels: the University Student Organization Committee and the Faculty/College Student Club Committee.
- University Student Organization Committee
This committee represents students at the university level and is responsible for efficient student management and organizing activities. Committee members are elected annually through a democratic process that includes candidate registration, voting by eligible students, and election result announcements. In the 2023 academic year, 29 students were elected and appointed to the University Student Organization Committee, including:- Mr. Supakrit Thongiat as President of the Student Organization,
- Mr. Saksit Chuaiiat as Vice President 1 of the Student Organization, and
- Mr. Kasitinat Ruangkaew as Vice President 2 of the Student Organization.
- Faculty/College Student Club Committee
This committee represents students at the faculty/college level and is responsible for electing a president and committee members to safeguard students’ rights and welfare within each faculty/college. In 2023, RMUTSV established 15 Faculty/College Student Club Committees, with each committee responsible for planning and implementing student activities.
Powers and Duties of the University Student Organization Committee
- Review and plan the operations of the Student Organization in alignment with the objectives outlined in the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya’s Student Activities Regulation of 2022.
- Develop an annual operational plan, including activities, projects, and budget allocation, that aligns with the university’s student development plan and the Student Council’s policies. This plan must be submitted to the Student Council for approval and reported to the university’s Student Activity Management Committee.
- Manage and conduct student activities in accordance with the university’s regulations or any guidelines established by the Student Council.
- Oversee and implement student activities that benefit students as per the plan approved by the Student Council.
- Approve the establishment of clubs affiliated with the Student Organization and report this approval to the university’s Student Activity Management Committee within 30 days.
- Submit individual nominations of Student Organization Committee members, excluding the President of the Student Club, for removal consideration to the university President, with approval from no less than half of the Committee members.
The Student Organization of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV), along with student leaders from Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Trang campuses, participated in the 3rd “RMUT Global Leadership Workshop” held at Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin in Nakhon Pathom Province and Dongeui University in Busan, South Korea.
Through this program, the student leaders gained new experiences and valuable knowledge, while also learning about South Korean culture, which differs significantly from Thailand, including cultural aspects related to dining and communication. The student leaders plan to apply the insights and experiences from this program to benefit their peers and to enhance student activities and development efforts at RMUTSV.
The Student Development Division organized the Annual Seminar for the Student Organization Committee and Student Club Committee for the 2023 academic year. The project aimed to enhance students’ teamwork skills, ensure that the operations of the Student Council, Student Organization, and Student Clubs are conducted in compliance with regulations, and encourage student leaders to actively participate in activities according to the National Qualifications Framework.
Associate Professor Krisanapong Sangkhawasi, Vice President of the university, presided over the ceremony, providing insights to students. Ms. Dawadol Sawasdilanon, Director of the Student Development Division, along with division personnel, also contributed knowledge to the students. This seminar offered an opportunity for staff and students to exchange useful opinions on student activity management and for student leaders to foster positive relationships with one another. On this occasion, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Student Council, Student Organization, and Student Clubs to collaborate on activities, held from June 7 to 9, 2023, at Lampam Resort, Mueang District, Phatthalung Province.
