Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya emphasizes research and innovation in natural resource management and climate change adaptation which causing changes in the water resources. focusing on developing research that addresses community issues and creating innovations that can be practically applied in local areas
The representatives from Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya participated in the meeting with National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Songkhla Rajabhat University, governmental networks, the Phatthalung Provincial Agricultural Office, the Cooperative of Phatthalung, the Department of Rice, and the Phatthalung Irrigation Project on 28 February 2023 at the Phatthalung Agricultural and Cooperative Office. The purpose of the meeting was to advance community-based networks using the BCG model which contributed by RUTS to develop alerts and salinity forecastin for Songkhla Lake in order to assist in planning and mitigating crop damage for rice farmers near the lake, as well as exploring renewable energy applications for irrigation systems in rice paddies.
Research, especially in community-focused settings offers numerous advantages that benefit both the researchers and the surrounding community. Community-centered research can address specific local issues, leading to practical solutions tailored to the community’s needs. This also allows students and community members to develop new skills, gain hands-on experience as well as when universities conduct research with a community-oriented approach, it fosters stronger ties between the university and the local population, building trust and encouraging future collaboration.
