In alignment with the strategic plan for the development of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya over the mid-term period of 5 years (2023-2027), which represents the second mid-term plan designed to drive the long-term development strategy of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya over 20 years (2018-2037) towards sustainable economic growth and excellence, with a specific emphasis on innovation in environmental and energy management. The university aspires to become a smart city, advocate for clean energy, and promote environmentally friendly practices. This includes fostering awareness and engagement among university staff, students, and relevant stakeholders in matters of environmental and energy conservation, adhering to the standards set by the Ministry of Energy for building design aimed at energy conservation (2009), and following the green office environmental management guidelines. We have established the following policies related to environmental and energy management:
1. Designing and constructing new buildings and renovating existing ones in accordance with the Ministry of Energy’s standards, criteria, and methods for energy conservation in building design (2009), and adhering to the green office environmental management approach.
2. Enhancing awareness among university staff, students, and stakeholders regarding the impacts of resource utilization on environmental sustainability and energy management, following the standards of the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion.
3. Encouraging staff, students, and stakeholders to reduce resource consumption and use environmentally friendly products and services to minimize pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
4. Focusing on waste management and implementing zero waste initiatives, as well as utilizing waste and biomass for alternative energy sources and eco-friendly products.
5. Committing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by the year 2027 and progressing towards becoming a Carbon Neutral University by 2037.
6. Increasing the use of renewable energy sources for 25% of the university’s energy consumption by 2027.
7. Promoting and supporting collaborative activities with external organizations, including the local community, government agencies, and industry, to create a low-carbon society and improve energy management efficiency.
8. Divesting investments from carbon-intensive energy industries especially coal and oil.
Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya is dedicated to advocating for and supporting various initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental and energy management in order to achieve the objectives outlined in the aforementioned policy consistently and sustainably.
