Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya collaborates with the people of Namtok Subdistrict, located in Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat, to survey and develop tourist trails in the area. This region is home to a variety of natural attractions, including an impressive limestone hill range and a unique water cave that features a natural hole where sunlight streams through, creating a breathtaking visual effect. The local community plays an essential role in conserving the area’s natural beauty. Many residents actively contribute to eco-friendly tourism efforts, some serving as knowledgeable tour guides, ensuring that visitors have a safe and educational experience. These guides highlight the importance of preserving the environment, while also showcasing the region’s natural wonders. The collaboration between the university and the local community fosters sustainable tourism that benefits both the economy and the environment.
In addition to sightseeing, a range of outdoor activities is offered to engage tourists with the natural surroundings. Visitors can embark on hiking adventures that traverse the area’s diverse landscapes, or test their skills with rock climbing on the limestone cliffs. Water-based activities are also popular, with canoeing and other recreational options available to explore the waterways surrounding the caves. These activities not only attract adventure enthusiasts but also promote eco-conscious tourism, where the natural ecosystem is respected and preserved. By offering these opportunities, the community ensures that tourism remains a vital yet sustainable part of their local economy, while raising awareness about the need to protect these precious natural resources. Through this joint effort with the university, the region’s tourism potential continues to grow, benefiting both visitors and local inhabitants.
