From March 20 to 23, 2023, a significant workshop titled “Municipal Teachers and Education Personnel Development Workshop on Writing a Learning Management Plan of Ecological Systems” was organized in collaboration with Dr. Jamnean Woraratchaiyapan, Senior Advisor of IUCN-Thailand, and Thung Song Municipality. This initiative, which took place at the Sirindhorn Botanical Garden Conference Room, involved prominent instructors from Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, including Dr. Prasert Nontakarn, Dr. Worawito Meesook, and Mr. Saitip Bua Khao from the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Agriculture. The workshop was attended by 30 educators from the Thung Song Municipality, aiming to empower them with the necessary skills to develop ecological courses or activities for primary, secondary, and high school students. The collaboration between the university, IUCN, and the municipality underscores the commitment of these partners to enhance environmental education and foster a better understanding of ecological systems among young learners.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in hands-on activities designed to facilitate the creation of effective learning management plans. The experts provided valuable insights on integrating ecological concepts into the curriculum, emphasizing the importance of fostering an appreciation for biodiversity and environmental conservation among students. The goal is for the trainees to implement innovative teaching strategies that encourage outdoor learning and active engagement with nature. This initiative not only aims to improve the quality of education but also seeks to instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment in the next generation. By equipping teachers with the tools and knowledge to teach about ecological systems, this workshop contributes to the broader goals of sustainable development and conservation. Ultimately, the collaboration among Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, IUCN, and Thung Song Municipality exemplifies how educational institutions and local governments can work together to promote ecological awareness and foster a culture of conservation within the community.
