Thaya Pirom, Apichon Thongmung Kamnerdwam, Surasit Rawangwong, Pheeraphong Phanthasri and Chaiwattanapat Laosa from Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya studied Development of innovative Products in Living Room for the Thai Elderly. Thailand is entering an aging society, with 18.94% of the population elderly as of 2022, a figure expected to exceed 30%. The elderly requires greater health care due to physical aging, emphasizing the need for health promotion and suitable environments to enhance their quality of life. Accidents often occur in unsuitable living spaces, such as tripping over obstructive furniture. Designers are focusing on furniture that meets the specific needs of the elderly, who have different usage patterns due to physical limitations.

This research aims to design furniture products, multi-purpose table-chair sets for the elderly, utilizing quality function deployment techniques. The research methodology begins with exploring customer needs through surveys to determine the important scores of each requirement. The gathered data on needs and importance scores are then analyzed using quality function deployment techniques, separating them into two matrices: the product planning matrix and the design transformation matrix.

The analysis results reveal that the product has been designed and developed according to specifications in terms of product aesthetics, including versatile and user-friendly styles/shapes, beauty, suitability of the surface, and suitability of size and weight. In terms of functional usage, versatility and ease of use, and responding and promoting health to users. Quality aspects encompass product completeness and safety. Material aspects focus on robust and high-quality materials, and convenience-enhancing materials.

Finally, in marketing aspects, price appropriateness is emphasized. The results from customer satisfaction surveys regarding furniture products for the elderly indicate that the most important and highly satisfying aspect to customers is the user-friendly design, the satisfaction level was at a very good level with an average of 4.54. Following that diversity in usage, the satisfaction level was at a good level with an average of 4.41. The average overall satisfaction of the product was 4.12 points, which is at a good level of satisfaction.
