Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) has implemented a proactive policy on hazardous waste disposal to ensure a safe and efficient laboratory environment. Faculty members from the Faculty of Agriculture, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornsil Seephueak, Asst. Prof. Wuttichai Seephueak, Ms. Vilawan Suwanmanee, and Ms. Oranuch Jittarom, recently participated in a Lab Safety Training session to support this policy. This training focused on maintaining laboratory safety, enhancing waste disposal management, and identifying and managing potential hazards. Organized by the National Research Council of Thailand, the training aimed to promote a deeper understanding of safe laboratory practices and adherence to safety regulations. By attending, the faculty members could ensure a safer environment not only for themselves but also for students and research teams working in these labs.

Held at Songkhla Rajabhat University on June 29, 2023, the training session brought together 200 participants, all dedicated to fostering a culture of safety in laboratory settings. Throughout the day, trainees were educated on proper protocols for handling hazardous materials, managing waste dispersal safely, and minimizing risks associated with laboratory hazards. This session was especially beneficial for RMUTSV’s Faculty of Agriculture, where laboratory practices are essential to ongoing research and educational activities. Participants learned about waste categorization, disposal procedures, and the importance of using protective equipment to prevent accidents. Overall, this training reinforced RMUTSV’s commitment to safety in academic and research environments, equipping faculty and staff with the skills needed to handle hazardous waste responsibly and maintain a safe workspace.
