Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) actively promotes biodiversity conservation as a core part of its policy, aiming to foster awareness and respect for ecological balance among students and the local community. To engage young minds in ecological conservation, the Faculty of Science and Technology organized a unique initiative called the “Local Thung Song Bird Drawing Contest.” This contest, aimed at secondary and high school students, encouraged participants to explore and appreciate the bird species native to the Thung Song area. Held as part of National Science Week on August 18, 2023, at RMUTSV’s Faculty of Science and Technology, the event allowed students to learn about bird species, their habitats, and their role in local biodiversity. Through this creative platform, the university sought to raise awareness about the importance of conserving natural habitats and protecting wildlife. Such programs also strengthen the relationship between the university and local schools, allowing students to learn about conservation through interactive, educational activities. The bird drawing contest attracted a wide range of students, illustrating RMUTSV’s commitment to nurturing a future generation that values biodiversity.

The Local Thung Song Bird Drawing Contest not only served as a competition but also as an educational experience, where students gained insights into the significance of local bird species and their conservation needs. Participants were encouraged to research different bird species native to Thung Song, enriching their understanding of the ecological role these birds play. Judges evaluated the entries based on artistic skill, creativity, and knowledge of the species depicted, rewarding those who demonstrated both talent and an understanding of biodiversity. This event was part of RMUTSV’s broader efforts to integrate conservation education into community outreach programs, reflecting the university’s dedication to sustainable development goals. Faculty members, students, and local conservationists attended the event, fostering a collaborative atmosphere that underscored the importance of community involvement in conservation efforts. The contest also highlighted RMUTSV’s role as a leader in promoting environmental stewardship in southern Thailand. By inspiring students to engage creatively with biodiversity topics, the university empowers the next generation to take active roles in conserving their local environment. This event demonstrated that through partnerships and education, RMUTSV can effectively drive awareness and action for a sustainable future.
