Public Learning Initiatives in Universities consists of two main parts Accessible Online Learning Resources and Physical Learning Resources

1. Accessible Online Learning Resources:

Universities have launched programs to enhance the workforce in the coastal tourism industry. This includes training to improve skills (Reskill, Upskill, and New Skill) start form 20 premium courses increase to 40 premium courses on the RUTS MOOC Platform in 2023. The theoretical foundation is provided through modules for short-term competency-based courses. Practical training takes place at three centers:

1) Southern Border Center at the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology.

2) Gulf of Thailand Center at the College of Industrial Technology and Management.

3) Andaman Center at College of Hospitality and Tourism.

The focus is on developing personnel tailored to the industry’s needs, creating technology and innovation aligned with the country’s goals. These initiatives facilitate the transfer of technologies and innovations to add value to industries, produce highly skilled graduates to meet industry demands, and upskill and reskill the workforce. This effort also nurtures new entrepreneurs with a focus on technology, particularly benefiting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

Professional Photographer Program

On June 22-23, 2023, the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya organized a hands-on training workshop titled “Professional Photographer Program” under the project to drive the creative economy with innovation and technology for sustainable marine tourism development. The training attracted participants interested in pursuing a career in photography and those passionate about photography. The workshop covered various topics, including photography fundamentals, techniques, camera settings, equipment selection, portrait and product photography, and photo editing with software applications. Participants had the opportunity to practice directly and engage in knowledge-sharing to develop skills that could further benefit tourism businesses and contribute to their own business development, generating additional income.

Professional Barista Program

March 23-24, 2023 The College of Industrial Technology and Management hosted a hands-on barista training program focused on professional standards. Participants gained in-depth knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, from slow bar and speed bar methods to perfect espresso shots and milk steaming. Training also covered hot coffee menu preparation, iced coffee drinks, and other cold beverages, as well as proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment. The workshop included a session on café management, providing cost calculation insights for opening a coffee shop. This program aims to empower participants to increase their income potential.

February 27 – March 1, 2023 The College of Hospitality and Tourism held a training program aimed at developing the skills of coastal tourism coordinators to meet professional standards. This hands-on training empowered participants to expand their tourism businesses through insightful content, including a lecture on “Professional Co-Tourism Service Providers.” The program included site visits to Thumrin Thana Hotel and hands-on experience at RMUTSV Trang Campus, where participants explored the spa and massage services center as well as housekeeping labs. The training fostered knowledge exchange among attendees, encouraging them to apply what they learned to enhance their tourism businesses and contribute to community development. By achieving professional standards, participants are better equipped to impress customers, ultimately driving increased income.
