RUTS has issued regulations regarding working hours, leave, and compensation for university staff in the year 2018. According to Clause 5, the working days, official holidays, and annual holidays for university staff shall follow the provisions set by the Cabinet for government officials, by analogy, and according to the Royal Gazette and the regulations of the Prime Minister’s Office regarding leave for government officials, 2012, page 6, Section 3 on leave to assist a wife during childbirth. Clause 20 states that officials wishing to take leave to assist their legally recognized wives who give birth must submit a leave request to their superiors in succession up to the authorized person before or on the date of leave within 90 days from the date of childbirth. They are entitled to take leave to assist their wife during childbirth for one continuous period not exceeding 15 working days.
These regulations reflect the university’s commitment to supporting staff in balancing work and family responsibilities, particularly during significant life events such as childbirth. By ensuring that male staff can take time off to assist their wives, the university promotes a family-friendly work environment.these regulations serve not only to assist staff during significant life events but also to strengthen the university’s reputation as a progressive and caring institution.
