Details: On September 18, 2023, Air Vice Marshal Athikhun Kongmee, Director of the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote sustainable tourism development in partnership with five higher education institutions: Thaksin University, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Songkhla Rajabhat University, Prince of Songkla University, and Hatyai University. This collaboration aims to integrate sustainable tourism development mechanisms across government agencies, state enterprises, local administrative organizations, academic institutions, community organizations, and private sector organizations for a four-year period (2024-2027).

The objectives of this partnership are to jointly promote sustainable tourism development in alignment with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) guidelines. The institutions will work together to define roles that adhere to the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) and to facilitate and elevate cities with potential to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), outlining responsibilities as per the UNESCO application criteria. Additionally, the partnership will focus on community-based tourism development, establishing roles that align with the CBT Thailand standards for community-based tourism.

On August 17, 2023, the Director of the Forest Industry Organization, Mr. Sukit Chanthong, assigned Mr. Surat Chai Inwiset, Director of the National Elephant Institute under Royal Patronage, to sign an academic collaboration Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Assistant Professor Dr. Teerawit Chanthip, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya. The collaboration aims to advance academic development in veterinary medicine and research, as well as to enhance the skills and knowledge of personnel in veterinary practice, research, and conservation. Both parties will exchange knowledge and provide academic support, organizing or participating in joint activities to align with their mutual goal of sustainable conservation of Thai elephants.

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya Wins Three Awards at the 2nd RMUT-TRM DAY Innovation Expo

The 2nd RMUT-TRM DAY Innovation Expo showcased the collaborative research outputs and innovations between RMUT researchers and industry partners. This event operates under the RMUT Resource Management Platform, also known as TRM-PLUS, which aims to revamp the nation’s workforce development system. Supported by the National Science, Research, and Innovation Policy Office (NSRI) and funded by the National Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO), this initiative aligns with the “ONE RMUT” policy promoted by the NSRI Office, reimagining the RMUT university system with a new joint funding mechanism for research. This collaboration is overseen by the Council of Rajamangala University of Technology Presidents and fosters the development of practical innovations that align with industry needs.

Talent Resource Management – Basic Package

  • Gold Award: Dr. Uraiwan Sookyang, Faculty of Science and Technology, for her project on developing particle board from wastepaper combined with natural rubber.
  • Bronze Award: Asst. Prof. Nicha Prasongjan, Faculty of Liberal Arts, for her project on developing stingless bee products in partnership with the local tourism community of Khuan Kwang, Klong Hoy Khong District, Songkhla Province.

Talent Resource Management – Impact Package

  • Bronze Award: Lecturer Bundita Phusammi Phonathong, Faculty of Science and Technology, for designing and constructing a solar-powered infrared dryer. This innovation helps reduce production time for the agricultural product processing enterprises in Wang community.
