Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) partnered with local healthcare facilities to implement an HPV vaccination campaign specifically designed for female students. The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance immunity against human papillomavirus (HPV), a significant contributor to cervical cancer, thereby aiming to lower the incidence and mortality rates associated with the disease among Thai women.
The vaccination event took place on December 13, 2023, at several nearby healthcare facilities, and participation of 339 female students across all RUTS campuses. This widespread involvement reflects the university’s commitment to student health and proactive measures in cancer prevention.
In addition to the vaccinations, the program offered counseling services provided by specialists from Songkhla Rajanagarindra Psychiatric Hospital. These services were designed to address any concerns or questions students might have regarding the vaccination and overall health. The counseling was made accessible both on-site during the vaccination event and through online platforms, ensuring that all participants could receive support in a convenient manner.
The initiative not only focuses on physical health through vaccination but also emphasizes mental health and well-being, recognizing the importance of comprehensive healthcare in preventing cervical cancer and supporting female students in their educational journey. Overall, this collaborative effort aims to foster a healthier future for women in the community by empowering them with the necessary tools and knowledge to combat cervical cancer effectively.
