Asst. Prof. Dr. Surasak Chuthong, a faculty member in the Landscape Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, recently organized an agritourism check-in project in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province as part of his ongoing research. Supported by the provincial budget under the 2023 Annual Action Plan, this research initiative is designed to establish a network of agritourism sites, known as “Mountain, Forest, Field, and Sea” (Khao Pa Na Le), and the “Twelve Zodiac Agriculture Tourism.” These sites aim to provide a center for learning sustainable agriculture, grounded in the principles of self-sufficiency following the King’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. The project showcases safe, pesticide-free vegetable cultivation techniques and highlights the importance of producing healthy, sustainable food. By offering educational and hands-on experiences, the research aims to promote self-reliant farming practices across Khanom, Bang Khan, Thung Song, and Pak Phanang districts, making it accessible for both the community and visiting tourists.

This research project does more than just attract tourists; it serves as a practical model for safe food production and self-sustaining agriculture, which can benefit the local economy and encourage wider adoption of these methods. The check-in points offer tourists a unique, immersive experience in sustainable farming, connecting them with local farmers who can share their knowledge and techniques. Through this initiative, Dr. Surasak’s research supports income generation for local communities and promotes environmental stewardship by highlighting eco-friendly practices. Additionally, the project aligns with Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya’s mission to integrate academic research with real-world application, especially in promoting sustainable agriculture. As tourists engage with these sites, they gain valuable insights into the importance of eco-friendly agriculture, reinforcing the university’s and the province’s goals for agritourism. This research-driven project not only strengthens local tourism but also serves as an educational tool that fosters appreciation for sustainable food production and resilient community development.
