On June 14, 2024, at Kanittha Cake Meeting Room, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) participated in a collaborative academic meeting alongside seven other higher education institutions in Southern Thailand and three private sector organizations to discuss new directions for sustainable tourism development in Trang Province. The meeting, led by Assoc. Prof. Sitthisak Chanthrioyong, Deputy Director of RMUTSV Trang Campus, focused on creating learning opportunities that connect university students, local communities, and industry experts through integrated teaching and practical engagement.

This initiative highlights the role of Teaching and Learning in advancing social and economic sustainability. The collaboration encourages students from tourism, business, and community development programs to participate in real-world problem solving—conducting field studies, community assessments, and tourism project planning in partnership with local entrepreneurs. Through these experiential learning activities, students gain essential skills in sustainable business design, community engagement, and policy awareness, while directly contributing to poverty reduction and inclusive economic development in the region.

Moreover, the partnership aims to integrate the outcomes of this collaboration into academic curricula, enabling instructors to embed sustainability and social innovation concepts within teaching modules. These academic–community linkages foster mutual learning and ensure that graduates possess both technical expertise and a sense of social responsibility.

This initiative aligns with SDG 1.4.1, by equipping students and communities with knowledge and skills to build sustainable livelihoods, and SDG 1.4.4, through the integration of education with local policy development for equitable economic opportunities. Through such actions, RMUTSV reinforces its mission as a learning-centered institution that empowers both students and communities to drive positive social change.
