Faculty of Engineering and Technology Researchers Secure Best Paper Award at ECTI-CARD 2024
Assistant Professor Dr. Paphatsakorn Areekul, Mr. Sarawut Phaspantong, and Mr. Abeedin Jilao, all faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, have been awarded the Best Academic Paper Award at the 16th Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ECTI) Conference on Application Research and Development (ECTI-CARD 2024).
The award-winning paper, titled “Harnessing Wind Energy Conversion from Vehicular Motion for Electricity Generation Using Small-Scale Vertical Axis Wind Turbines for Road Safety Enhancement,” presented research focusing on the development and design of a low-wind-speed, three-phase, 200-watt vertical axis wind turbine system.
This innovative system is engineered to generate electricity by capturing the relative wind force created by passing vehicles (traffic flow), which is then used to charge a 12-volt, 17-ampere-hour battery. The project’s primary goal is to contribute to road safety through this sustainable energy application.
The conference was hosted at the Thongtarin Hotel in Surin Province, organized collaboratively by the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Surindra Rajabhat University, the Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology Association (ECTI-Thailand), and the National Institute of Metrology (NIMT).
