The Faculty of Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyaporn Aromut (Dean), is implementing the project “Culture Smart City : Songkhla Old Town.” The 3rd hands-on workshop in the series extends continuous work undertaken since 2017 in collaboration with Songkhla.City Municipality, local partner networks, the Khon Rak Mueang Songkhla civic group, and Old Town communities both Thai Buddhist and Muslim.

The initiative emphasizes research and academic service to drive place-based development in Songkhla Old Town, including preparation of the Songkhla Old Town plan, tourism route design, architectural surveys and documentation, and activities honoring Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother through the preservation of identity, local craftsmanship, transmission and creative renewal of arts and culture. The project also advances learning resources and tourism by building a virtual city environment for interpretation and engagement.

During this workshop, activity leads presented summaries of results from each workstream, formally handed over project outputs to partner networks, and joined a reflection session to capture lessons learned and recommendations for advancing the model cultural city. The event was honored by Mr. Wanchai Parinyasiri, Mayor of Songkhla City, and Asst. Prof. Udon Namsen, Vice President of RUTS, together with representatives from government,
civil society, and the project working team. Venue: Hub Ho Hin, Nakhon Nok Road,
Mueang District, Songkhla.
