RUTS Faculty of Liberal Arts Pioneers Biomass Stove Innovation for Energy Reduction and Environmental Conservation
In an era characterized by significant environmental transformation, numerous nations are beginning to seriously prioritize environmentally conscious energy utilization. Recognizing this trend, a research team from the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) identified an opportunity for the creation of an innovative biomass stove.
Associate Professor Dr. Supranee Woonsri (Project Leader), alongside team members Assistant Professor Noppadol Phochamnuet, Assistant Professor Dr. Kosin Teeparakphan, Assistant Professor Dr. Parunee Sampim, and Assistant Professor Phonchai Khaonuan, views this innovation as a crucial step toward establishing an eco-friendly society.
The distinction between conventional stoves and biomass stoves highlights clear differences in properties and environmental impact. Conventional stoves typically utilize fossil fuels, such as natural gas or electricity, offering user convenience and high efficiency. However, the combustion of fossil fuels results in the emission of greenhouse gases and contributes to environmental pollution.
In contrast, the biomass stove is specifically engineered to utilize agricultural waste materials, including corn cobs, rice straw, sawdust, and tree branches, positioning them as a more sustainable energy source. Although the efficiency of biomass stoves may be lower in certain applications, their ability to convert waste materials into renewable energy significantly mitigates the environmental impact associated with waste disposal.
