The Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology participated in a discussion with local leaders and community network partners in Nam Tok Subdistrict to explore collaborative approaches for area-based development. The initiative focuses on promoting sustainable eco-cultural tourism, aiming to enhance community capacity in managing natural resources and cultural heritage in a balanced and sustainable manner.
The discussion covered key topics related to natural resource and environmental conservation, including the preservation of forests, water sources, and mountain ecosystems, which are vital to Nam Tok Subdistrict’s ecological balance. The community is encouraged to play an active role in environmental stewardship through activities such as reforestation, sustainable waste management, and eco-friendly tourism development that minimizes environmental impact.
In addition, the meeting emphasized the preservation of local culture and traditional knowledge, including folk wisdom, local handicrafts, performing arts, and the traditional way of life. These efforts aim to ensure that tourism not only generates income but also serves as a means of transmitting local identity and cultural values to future generations.
This collaboration aims to establish a “Sustainable Nam Tok Subdistrict Model”, integrating natural beauty, environmental conservation, and cultural preservation harmoniously. The model reflects the essence of SDG 13.3.1, by strengthening community awareness, participation, and capacity-building for climate action, ensuring that local development aligns with climate change adaptation and sustainability goals, safeguarding the environment and cultural heritage for generations to come.
