Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) through the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, has implemented a hands-on learning and research activity aimed at supporting the sustainable growth of Thailand’s shrimp farming industry.
This activity involved 6th-year veterinary students participating in on-site farm visits and assessments in Surat Thani — the leading province in shrimp aquaculture production and value in Thailand.
Key Activities:
- Conducting shrimp health assessments to monitor disease and growth performance.
- Evaluating water and environmental quality to ensure sustainable farming conditions.
- Analyzing and providing consultation for farm business development in alignment with environmental conservation.
- Encouraging students to apply academic knowledge to real-world aquaculture operations.
This initiative demonstrates how academic research and practical veterinary science can be integrated to support local industries. By combining field-based learning, environmental management, and sustainable aquaculture practices, RUTS contributes to strengthening Thailand’s shrimp industry
