Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) has implemented the “GSB Yuwaphat Rak Thin 2024” Project, an academic service and community engagement initiative aimed at promoting sustainable local development. The project focuses on enhancing the quality and market competitiveness of community products, upgrading local tourism businesses to meet recognized standards, and fostering self-reliant community enterprises. By integrating student participation, the project provides opportunities for learners to apply their academic knowledge in real settings—conducting community studies, analyzing business potential, and co-developing solutions alongside local residents under the supervision of academic advisors.

This initiative exemplifies Outreach & Engagement, as it connects the university with local communities through knowledge transfer, innovation, and hands-on collaboration that leads to tangible social and economic impact. It enables students to gain professional experience while helping communities increase income, strengthen financial and business management skills, and improve quality of life. The project directly aligns with SDG 1: No Poverty, particularly SDG 1.3.3 and 1.3.4, by supporting low-income groups in generating sustainable income and building economic stability; SDG 1.4.1, by helping communities establish financially and socially sustainable enterprises; and SDG 1.4.3, by expanding access to fundamental services through training in accounting, marketing, and business operations. Through this collaboration between academia and community, RUTS demonstrates its role as a driving force for inclusive development and poverty reduction, empowering both students and local residents toward sustainable livelihoods.
