The Faculty of Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), conducted a key activity under the “Learning City Model for Reducing Educational Inequality” project in Trang Province.The event, titled “Data Return and Learning Route Testing”, was organized to identify potential learning spaces, establish participatory mechanisms, and strengthen cooperation among government, private, and community partners to advance Trang as a Learning City.

The project was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Natthaneeporn Noisengiam, Lecturer in the Urban Planning Program, Faculty of Architecture, RUTS, in collaboration with Trang Municipality, local authorities, private sector representatives, and community networks.

The activity was presided over by Mr. Niwan Saengwisut, Deputy Mayor of Trang Municipality, with participation from the Directors of the Education Administration Division, Social Welfare Division, and Division of Religion, Arts, and Culture Promotion, as well as representatives from non-formal education offices and related agencies.

The project emphasized collaboration across all sectors:

  • Public Sector: Leading the integration of educational, social, and cultural policies to transform every part of the city into a learning space.
  • Private Sector: Supported by the Trang Chamber of Commerce, promoting innovation and community-based economic products to enhance income distribution.
  • Community and Networks: Engaged in participatory urban learning processes, developing informal learning areas for children, youth, and the general public.
  • Educational Personnel: Co-designed the “Learning City Curriculum (Know Them, Know Us)” to connect city learning routes and promote local identity through community museums and cultural learning spaces.

The Learning City Model Project in Trang reflects RUTS’s commitment to reducing educational inequality through creative, place-based learning design .By combining local government, private sector, and community engagement, the project transforms urban spaces into accessible learning ecosystems, linking education with cultural identity and community well-being-embodying the spirit of Quality Education and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
