The Faculty of Architecture, RMUTSV represented by Lecturer Ekpong Khongchang,
Visual Arts (Fine Arts) Program
, together with networks of artists from Songkhla Province and across Thailand participated in an international art platform in Cheongju, Republic of Korea, through two key showcases: The 3rd Cheongju Social Digilog Art Festivals (CSDAF) held 15 October to 2 November 2024, and the exhibition “Thailand’s Lament to Korea Cheongju Songkhla Art Exchange Exhibition” at Soyo Space Gallery, running from late October to 28 November 2024. This participation highlights the Faculty’s role as a “bridge” connecting academia, artists, and creative cities, presenting contemporary visual art and design knowledge from Southern Thailand to the international stage.

Both exhibitions emphasize the narratives, ways of life, and local identities conveyed through diverse forms of contemporary visual art ranging from reinterpretations of Songkhla’s cultural heritage to a shared language of art, technology, and urban community. The Cheongju Songkhla Art Exchange framework further opens a space for dialogue among artists, curators, and academic institutions, paving the way for long-term collaboration in research, teaching, field-based workshops, and co-creative projects.

In terms of cultural value, “Thailand’s Lament to Korea” and the “Cheongju Songkhla Art Exchange” help transmit and expand the meaning of Thailand’s intangible cultural heritage especially the identities rooted in Songkhla to international audiences through accessible contemporary visual expression. At the same time, they elevate the Soft Power of Thailand and Songkhla within the East Asian art arena, strengthen the image of a creative city, and further develop sustainable networks linking institutions, cities, and communities.
