Asst. Prof. Chayanat Buathongkuea, an expert member of the Western Southern River Basin Committee, attended the 4/2024 committee meeting held at the Phra Ya Ratsada Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Trang Provincial Hall. The meeting addressed three main agenda items: (1) the current water situation in the Western Southern River Basin, (2) the Updated Water Resources Management Master Plan (2023–2037), and (3) the Action Plan for Water Resources Management in Fiscal Year 2025. The committee reviewed and provided recommendations on the Operational Plan for Enhancing Water Resources Management Efficiency within the Western Southern River Basin, including 270 projects with a total budget of 1,246.93 million baht. Discussions emphasized the importance of integrated water management under the National Water Resources Management Plan (2021), as well as the coordination of relevant agencies in drought and flood prevention, efficient water allocation, and rehabilitation of degraded forest areas to strengthen water retention capacity across the basin. Furthermore, the committee acknowledged progress reports on key government measures for the 2024 rainy season and proposed guidelines to ensure water security, safety, and sustainability in line with the National Water Vision and the Regional Development Strategy for the Western Southern Basin.
