Asst. Prof. Chayanat Buathongkuea, an expert member of the Western Southern River Basin Committee, attended the 6/2024 committee meeting held at the Phra Ya Ratsada Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Trang Provincial Hall. The meeting discussed several key agenda items, including: The progress report on the preparation of the Western Coast River Basin Management Plan and the implementation of related projects. The summary of proposals received from sub-basin committees under the Western Coast River Basin. The evaluation results and lessons learned from the fiscal year 2024 implementation. The operational framework for the 2025 water resource management projects, which serve as the basis for ONWR’s nationwide water management planning. The draft structure and roles of subcommittees under the Western Coast River Basin Committee, namely: (1) the Subcommittee on Water Allocation and Utilization, (2) the Subcommittee on Water Quality and Environmental Management, and (3) the Subcommittee on Water Resources Information and Technical Affairs. During the meeting, members shared their opinions and provided recommendations regarding the coordination of water resource management activities, the implementation of flood and drought prevention measures, and the integration of plans among relevant agencies. The committee emphasized the importance of proactive planning and close cooperation among local and regional offices to ensure effective water allocation, particularly during the 2024–2025 flood and drought seasons. The committee also recommended that the ONWR Regional Office 4 continue coordinating with relevant agencies to refine and finalize the Western Coast River Basin Management Plan and to strengthen local-level participation in water resource administration.
