Asst. Prof. Chayanat Buathongkuea, an expert member of the Western Southern River Basin Committee, attended the 8/2024 committee meeting held at the Phra Ya Ratsada Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Trang Provincial Hall. The meeting agenda focused on two key items: Reviewing water management operations in the Western Coast River Basin; and Considering additional projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of water resource management in preparation for the 2025 dry and rainy seasons. During the meeting, the committee reviewed and provided opinions on major projects proposed to improve water resource management efficiency, particularly in addressing drought and flood risks in 2025. The committee emphasized the importance of integrating the proposed measures into local and regional water management frameworks to ensure readiness for the upcoming seasons. The meeting noted that within the Western Coast River Basin, 225 projects are currently being implemented, with a total budget of 891.206 million baht, focusing on flood prevention and water allocation improvements. Additionally, 43 new projects, with a combined budget of 560.7735 million baht, were proposed for fiscal year 2026 to further enhance the region’s water management capacity. The committee approved these proposals and authorized the ONWR Regional Office 4 to proceed with final coordination and project sign-off.
