Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) has implemented a policy on research budget management designed to promote knowledge creation, technology transfer, and community development through practical innovation. The policy ensures that university research funding directly supports projects that apply academic expertise to real-world challenges, emphasizing technology that improves productivity, sustainability, and quality of life in local communities. The approach focuses on expanding lifelong learning opportunities by enabling community members to participate in hands-on training and practical learning activities related to agricultural innovation, natural resource management, and renewable energy utilization. By partnering with local organizations and private sectors, RUTS ensures that research outputs are effectively disseminated for both public and commercial benefit—bridging academic research with social and economic development.
Impact Result:
The policy enhanced community access to research-driven knowledge and technology, enabling local residents to acquire practical skills that improve livelihoods and promote self-reliance. By allocating research funding toward hands-on, community-centered projects, the initiative strengthened local innovation capacity, fostered sustainable development, and transformed academic research into lifelong learning resources accessible to all. This policy demonstrates how institutional operations can translate research investment into tangible social impact, supporting equitable access to education, innovation, and lifelong learning in alignment with SDG 4.
