Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) today announced a major step in its commitment to sustainability by releasing a comprehensive Environmental and Energy Management Policy. The policy establishes clear, measurable goals for energy transition, emission reduction, and sustainable infrastructure development, reinforcing the university’s dedication to becoming a Smart City and a leader in environmental innovation. The new policy aligns RUTS with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and Goal 13 (Climate Action).

Key Commitments and Targets

RUTS’s action plan is driven by its 20-Year Long-Term Development Strategy (2022–2041) and includes several landmark commitments:

1.Carbon Neutrality Goal: RUTS is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 45% by 2026 and progressing toward becoming a Carbon Neutral University by 2041.

2.Renewable Energy Integration: The university will increase the use of renewable energy sources to account for 25% of its total energy consumption by 2026.

3.Sustainable Infrastructure: All new construction and building renovations will adhere to the Ministry of Energy’s standards for energy conservation and comply with Green Office environmental management guidelines.

4.Responsible Investment: RUTS has pledged to divest investments from carbon-intensive energy industries, specifically coal and oil.
