Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) hosted the Appropriate Technology Symposium 2024: “Appropriate Technology for Sustainable Living” as part of its strategic policy to promote innovation and sustainable development within higher education institutions. The event, organized in collaboration with nine RMUT universities, highlighted the university’s policy-driven commitment to applying research and technology for community well-being and inclusive growth. By emphasizing “appropriate technology,” RMUTSV reinforces its operational framework that aligns institutional missions with national and regional sustainability agendas.
This initiative reflects the Policy & Operation dimension, as it integrates sustainability principles into university management, academic direction, and collaborative policy action. The symposium demonstrates how institutional operations can serve as a policy model—encouraging multi-sector collaboration, efficient resource use, and knowledge-based community development.
Aligned with SDG 1.4.1, 1.4.3, and 1.4.4, this initiative enables communities to access innovative technologies for sustainable livelihoods (1.4.1), improves inclusivity and access to essential academic and technological resources (1.4.3), and supports cooperation in policy formulation that advances poverty reduction and equitable growth (1.4.4). Through such integration of research, policy, and practice, RMUTSV exemplifies leadership in embedding sustainability into institutional governance and national development frameworks.
