The Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV), led by Prof. Dr. Suwat Thanyaros, President of RMUTSV, together with Asst. Prof. Udorn Namsen, Vice President, Asst. Prof. Chaiya Thanapatthasiri, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology, Asst. Prof. Sitthichok Unkaew, Director of the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Piyaporn Oramut, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, inaugurated a new green relaxation space in front of the university’s main campus at the “Rat and Cat Sculpture Plaza.”

The landscape development was part of Activity 2: Development of Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable Landscape Architecture, under the larger university initiative “From Crisis to Adaptation: High-Quality Marine Tourism Development for the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea.” This sub-activity — Prototype Landscape Design to Promote Coastal Tourism — was implemented by the Faculty of Architecture, RMUTSV, with a total project budget of
500,000 THB.

The landscape space was designed and executed by fourth-year Architecture students as part of their coursework in Architectural Detail Design Studio. The project integrated academic learning with real-world application, focusing on eco-design principles, native plant selection, low-impact construction, and public accessibility. This effort transformed an underutilized open area into a welcoming outdoor relaxation zone, promoting wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and aesthetic appreciation for the university and surrounding community.
