RUTS Action Plan for Marine Debris Reduction
October 20, 2025

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), Trang Campus, has been implementing an action plan to reduce marine debris in line with the “RUTS Policy on Reducing Marine Pollution” during July–October 2024. The initiative focuses on environmental education through interactive workshops and coastal cleanup activities that highlight the ecological impacts of marine waste.
Assistant Professor Aneak Sawain and the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology launched the Libong Upcycling Project to share environmental knowledge with residents of Ko Libong. The project promotes waste collection and upcycling into useful products, reducing marine debris while fostering environmental awareness. It represents a collaboration between RUTS faculty, students, and the Ko Libong community.

On August 28, 2024, RUTS held a presentation for students in the Bachelor’s Program in Resource and Environmental Management, marking the completion of their internship with the Ko Libong upcycling enterprise.

Additionally, on October 16, 2024, RUTS organized a coastal cleanup at Rajamangala Beach to raise awareness of marine pollution and its effects on marine life. Faculty, staff, and students actively participated in the event.
