In 2024, RUTS collaborated with University in Malaysia as Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) to focus on how universities can collaborate and review action to build best practice to relate to SDG 1 to 17. For instance, during 15-18 August 2024, The RUTS & UTP Entrepreneurship Camp 2024 was a collaborative international learning initiative jointly organised by Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), Thailand, and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia. The camp was held in 2024 with the primary objective of enhancing students’ entrepreneurial competencies, cross-cultural understanding, and innovative thinking through experiential and project-based learning.
The program brought together 80 participants from diverse academic backgrounds to engage in workshops, business simulation activities, startup idea pitching, and mentorship sessions led by experienced lecturers and industry experts from both universities. The camp’s main focus was to promote entrepreneurial mindset development, innovation management, and sustainable business creation aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure). Participants worked in multicultural teams to develop sustainable startup concepts addressing real-world challenges such as renewable energy, digital transformation, waste management, and community-based social enterprises. Through collaborative learning and intercultural exchange, students gained practical knowledge in business model development, digital marketing, financial planning, and social entrepreneurship. The camp also fostered academic collaboration between RUTS and UTP by integrating entrepreneurship education and innovation ecosystems into their joint activities. It strengthened institutional partnerships and promoted long-term cooperation in teaching, research, and student mobility.
In conclusion, the RUTS & UTP Entrepreneurship Camp 2024 successfully empowered students to think critically, act innovatively, and pursue sustainable entrepreneurial solutions that contribute to global and regional economic resilience. The program stands as a model for international collaboration that integrates entrepreneurship education with sustainable development principles.
