RUTS has designed various courses on sustainability to teach students for adopting sustainability in their lives. It has focused on Education for SDGs: specific courses on sustainability, RUTS has dedicated courses for Undergraduates degree that address sustainability and the SDGs. Especially, Engineering programme of Faculty of Engineering has integrated SDGs into engineering innovation course. In 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) collaborated with Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) Malaysia, to organise the International Engineering Camp 2024 from 13th –17th May 2024. The camp emphasised engineering innovation for sustainable development. Through hands-on workshops in Microbit programming and Siemens PLC automation where students developed smart prototypes addressing energy efficiency, sustainable agriculture, and waste management, supporting SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). In addition to academics, participants engaged in cultural performances and friendly sports activities, strengthening cross-cultural understanding and teamwork among Thai and Malaysian students. These experiences fostered global citisenship, communication, and leadership skills.
In conclusion, the camp significantly enhanced students’ technical competence, cultural awareness, and sustainability mindset. It inspired a new generation of engineers who are innovative, globally aware and committed to advancing the SDGs, strengthening regional collaboration between Thailand and Malaysia.
