On September 30, 2024, the Institute of Natural Resources and Environment at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), led by Assistant Professor Dr. Prasert Thongnunui, Director of the Institute, together with Lecturer Dueanrung Chuayruang from the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology, organized a volunteer activity to collect waste along Rajamangala Trang Beach. Participating in this initiative were students from the Aquaculture Program, the Environmental and Resource Management Program (Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology), and the Accounting Program (College of Hospitality and Tourism, Trang Campus).

The activity aimed to reduce waste accumulation along the coastline and prevent debris from entering the ocean, where it could harm marine ecosystems and aquatic life. Volunteers also engaged in roadside cleaning and canal dredging in front of the Rajamangala Trang Aquarium to improve the local environment and water flow. By preventing plastic and other waste from contaminating natural water bodies, the activity contributed to protecting water quality and promoting a healthier aquatic environment for both marine organisms and surrounding communities.

This activity not only helped beautify the area but also served as an educational and social service initiative that raised awareness about plastic waste pollution and environmental stewardship among young people. It encouraged students to develop a sense of environmental responsibility and to participate in sustainable community development.

Through hands-on participation, RUTS students learned the importance of community-based action in environmental protection and sustainability, reinforcing the university’s mission to integrate academic knowledge with practical contributions toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable society.
