On October 9, 2024, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), through the Student Development Division, in collaboration with Songkhla Hospital, provided the second dose of the HPV vaccine to students in accordance with the Ministry of Public Health’s policy on the prevention of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among Thai women under 45 years of age. It is caused by infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which affects the epithelial tissue of the cervix and can lead to abnormal cell growth, eventually developing into cervical cancer. The HPV vaccine has been proven to be 93–95% effective in preventing cervical cancer among those who have not yet been infected.

This vaccination program aims to build immunity against HPV for female students from primary grade 5 to university year 2, or Thai females aged 11–20 years, with the goal of reducing morbidity and mortality rates caused by cervical cancer among Thai women.

A total of 119 RUTS students received the vaccination at the Committee Meeting Room 2, 1st Floor, Office of the President Building. This initiative represents an important step in enhancing disease prevention and promoting long-term health protection for women.
