In 2024, RUTS collaborated with University Partnership in Malaysia for the goals of sustainable development around research relating to SDG 1 to 17. For instance, RUTS in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) in Malaysia conducted the IEEE 1st International Conference on Communication Engineering and Emerging Technologies (ICoCET) from 2nd to 3rd September 2024 at the Bertam Resort and Waterpark, Penag, Malaysia . The event was hosted by University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and this conference was the presentation of the first collaborative research paper between RUTS, Thailand and UniMAP, Malaysia. The research paper on topic Fruit Juice Dielectric Properties Characterisation using Artificial Intelligence” was co-authored by Nurin Jazlina Jas Wari, Siti Zuraidah Ibrahim, Wee Fwen Hoon, Tanakorn Inthasuth, and Khuzairi Masrakim.

Asst. Prof. Tanakorn Inthasuth as RUTS lecturer in Telecommunication Engineering Programme, Faculty of Engineering was co-authored on this research paper. This paper introduces a novel technique for evaluating fruit juice quality through the application of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). An open-ended coaxial probe linked to a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) was utilized to determine the dielectric constant and loss factor of juice samples within the 1–6 GHz frequency range. The investigation focused specifically on orange juice, analyzing seven different orange varieties prepared for testing. By examining variations in pH levels, sugar concentration, and dielectric properties, the study explored the behavior of the dielectric constant and loss factor. For model development, 707 data samples were employed as inputs and targets. The ANN configuration incorporated a feed-forward backpropagation structure with a Tan-Sigmoid activation function, five hidden neurons, and the Levenberg–Marquardt training algorithm. The model’s predictive capability was validated by comparing experimental and simulated outcomes, confirming its effectiveness and accuracy in determining juice quality using MATLAB software. In conclusion, The joint research conducted by both institutions, RUTS and UniMAP, was honored with the Best Paper Award, a recognition that underscores the scientific excellence and innovative contribution of the research team. This achievement reflects the success of the collaborative framework that integrates academic rigor, applied research, and sustainability-driven innovation. It further strengthens the partnership between RUTS and UniMAP in advancing technology-driven and socially responsible solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to quality education (SDG 4), industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17). The award-winning paper, representing this spirit of integration and excellence, has been officially published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and can be accessed at https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10729984.
