On May 9, 2024, a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), Trang Campus—Mr. Sarawut Phasaphanthong, Mr. Abideen Jilao, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Paphatsakorn Areekul—received the Best Paper Award for their research titled “Conversion of Wind Energy from Moving Vehicles into Electricity Using a Small Vertical Axis Wind Turbine for Road Safety.” The research presents the design and development of a low-wind-speed, three-phase, 200-watt Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) capable of generating electricity from the airflow produced by passing vehicles to charge a 12-volt, 17 amp-hour battery. The paper was presented at the 16th National Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology: Applied Research and Development (ECTI-CARD 2024), held from May 7-9, 2024, at Thong Tarin Hotel, Surin Province. The event was jointly organized by the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Surindra Rajabhat University, the Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Association (ECTI Association), and the National Institute of Metrology (Thailand).
