Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) has spearheaded the development of the “Song-Lae Pier” in Songkhla Province as a model of floating dock innovation, designed to support coastal tourism and enhance community livelihoods. This initiative integrates ภาพที่อัปโหลด scientific research and technological innovation to create sustainable economic opportunities for local fishing communities.

The project “Creative Economy through Innovation and Technology”, RUTS has conducted applied research to design a floating dock system adapted to Songkhla’s coastal environment. The project aims to develop infrastructure that promotes coastal tourism (Coastal Tourism Innovation) and community-based economic growth. The university’s research team studied marine engineering principles, environmental factors, and community needs to produce a practical prototype that can be replicated in other coastal regions.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwitch Thanyasiri, Assistant to the President of RUTS, the Song-Lae Pier project represents a strong example of Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development, directly contributing to SDG 1: No Poverty, particularly targets 1.4.1 and 1.4.4. It enhances access to economic opportunities, strengthens local livelihoods, and fosters university participation in policy and local development strategies to alleviate poverty through tourism-based innovation.

Moreover, the project facilitates technology transfer and collaborative research with local administrative organizations and community enterprises. These partnerships enable local residents to benefit from new technologies, build entrepreneurial capacity, and generate sustainable income through ecotourism and coastal resource management.

Through this integration of research and innovation, RUTS demonstrates its role as a University for Sustainable Development, applying science and technology to drive grassroots economic progress, reduce social inequality, and build long-term financial stability for coastal communities in Southern Thailand.
