The Faculty of Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), served as the leading unit in initiating an academic partnership with the Multidisciplinary Research Institute, Chiang Mai University (CMU) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on May 27, 2024.

The collaboration, titled “Songkhla Creative City Lab,” aims to establish a collaborative platform for creativity, research, and urban innovation, supporting Songkhla Province’s goal to become a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
This partnership will promote academic exchange, creative engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration between universities, researchers, and local stakeholders.It also seeks to develop creative spaces, participatory city-making activities, and knowledge-sharing forums to advance Songkhla as a model of a creative and sustainable city in southern Thailand.




The Songkhla Creative City Lab marks a significant milestone in advancing creative urban development through academic collaboration. By uniting RUTS and CMU under a shared vision, the initiative leverages multidisciplinary knowledge to transform Songkhla into a creative, inclusive, and sustainable city aligned with UNESCO’s Creative Cities framework.
This partnership embodies the principles of Sustainable Cities and Communities and Partnerships for the Goals, reinforcing the role of universities as catalysts for regional innovation and cultural sustainability.
