Students from the Architecture Program, Faculty of Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) participated in the “Songkhla Old Town Gateway Design Competition” on August 19, 2024, organized by the Southern Architect Committee (ASA Taksin) under the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage.

The competition was part of the regional architectural event “Open House @ASA Cloud Songkhla Old Town: Architects Tam Roy (ทำหรอย)”, held between August 17–25, 2024, at the ASA Cloud Songkhla Center in Songkhla Old Town.

Under the mentorship of Lecturer Jameekorn Malison, the fourth-year architecture students developed creative symbolic signage designs that reflect the identity, heritage, and cultural vitality of Songkhla Old Town. Their work combined local architectural motifs, community narratives, and modern design aesthetics, effectively representing the town’s historical gateways as both artistic landmarks and cultural connectors.

Among the participants, Mr. Kanthaphong Juruwan and Ms. Nahathai Phonladech, fourth-year students from the program, won the First Prize (Winner Award) in the final round of the competition. Their design stood out for its balance of tradition and innovation, visual clarity, and cultural relevance, earning praise from professional architects and the local community.
