On May 21, 2024, the Office of Innovation Management and Technology Transfer, RUTS, participated in the “Yor Island Cultural Festival 2024” under the theme “Somdet Chao Ko Yo” at Wat Khok Phiao, Ko Yo Subdistrict, Songkhla Province. The event was part of the long-standing “Festival of Ko Yo’s Local Delicacies” and the annual Chedi Robe Offering Ceremony (Phra Chedi Khao Kudi Fair)—a traditional celebration held on the full moon day of the sixth lunar month to honor Somdet Chao Ko Yo, the revered spiritual guardian of the island.

RUTS contributed to the event by organizing a Nora Dance Tribute Performance titled “Ram Buangsuan Somdet Chao Ko Yo”, presented by Nattaphong Wongthewa Nora Troupe, which showcased the grace, rhythm, and spiritual depth of Southern Thai performing arts.
The performance was held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the ceremonial stage of Wat Khok Phiao.
This activity was conducted under the research project titled “The Lords of the Songkhla Lake Basin: Developing and Enhancing Local Economy through Cultural Ecosystem Participation”, within the research framework “Cultural Capital Management for Community Economic Development and Local Identity Awareness”, supported by the Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development (PMU-A) for fiscal year 2024.
This initiative exemplifies RUTS’s role in integrating academic research with cultural heritage preservation and community development. By engaging with local partners and cultural performers, the university contributes to cultural sustainability, community empowerment, and creative tourism, fostering pride in Southern Thai heritage and promoting the cultural Soft Power of Songkhla Province.
