Housing System Policy for Enhancing Quality of Life for Staff and Students at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya
Introduction
The Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) recognizes the critical role of providing an environment conducive to high-quality learning and professional performance. Housing is a fundamental factor that directly influences the quality of life, physical health, and mental well-being of both students and personnel. Safe, comfortable, and affordable on-campus accommodation is thus a key mechanism for reducing travel burdens and enabling students to utilize their university experience effectively. Consequently, RMUTSV has established a distinct and comprehensive housing system policy covering all target groups to meet defined standards of safety and comfort.
Policy Objectives
- To provide accommodation that meets standards for safety, hygiene, and affordability for students and personnel at all levels.
- To promote strong community building and an environment that supports successful adaptation to university life.
- To maximize the efficiency of housing system management and facility development, covering modern maintenance and service delivery.
- To support equitable access to accommodation for students with special needs and personnel whose job requires them to reside on campus.
Types of Accommodation and Management
The RMUTSV housing policy focuses on providing two main types of accommodation:
- Student Dormitories: The allocation of space emphasizes fostering collaborative learning and discipline. Management includes stringent 24-hour security protocols, CCTV installation, and close supervision and counseling from assigned personnel. Clear regulations are established to promote peaceful coexistence and order.
- Staff Housing: Provided to facilitate the work of personnel who need to be in close proximity to the university, particularly new staff or those on-call/special duty assignments. Allocation is determined based on necessity and the university’s welfare guidelines.
Sustainability and Accessibility Policy
The university prioritizes the improvement and construction of accommodation based on principles of Sustainability and Universal Design. This includes emphasizing energy efficiency, resource management, and designing spaces that can accommodate persons with disabilities and the elderly. This ensures that all students and personnel have equal access to and benefit from the housing system.
Future Directions
The housing system policy will remain a crucial mechanism for advancing the quality of life within the RMUTSV community. In the future, the university plans to integrate digital technology into housing management, such as online room booking systems, application-based maintenance requests, and the development of smart security systems, thereby fully elevating service standards toward becoming an innovation-driven university.

RMUTSV Official Staff Housing Policy
Figure 2-10 illustrates the critical documentation (official Thai government paperwork) that applicants for university-provided residential housing must complete in sequential order. The subsequent image provides a visual typology of the staff accommodation, encompassing various structures such as studio-type apartment blocks, two-bedroom family apartment blocks, and detached residential houses.
Notably, the majority of this current housing stock represents older infrastructure, having been constructed over an extended period in accordance with historical fiscal budgetary cycles. The future development of modern buildings prioritizing Universal Design (UD) Accessibility features is, however, formally included in the long-term strategic plan, as previously articulated.
The Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) implements a policy that allows personnel to request official university housing (government quarters) for residency.
The university adheres to a structured schedule for this process:
- Application Cycle: Applications are accepted and official selection orders are issued by the university twice per year.
- Dissemination of Information: The announcement for each cycle is comprehensively publicized to inform all eligible personnel.
- Application Method: Staff members can access and submit the application form either by scanning the provided QR code, navigating directly to the URL: https://forms.gle/RTQRTxuJvExnbZEw7, or by visiting the General Affairs Division website (กองกลาง).
