On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, Asst. Prof. Piya Prasongchan, Vice President of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), presided over the opening ceremony of the Student Leadership Training Program on Drug and Vice Prevention, under the activity “Think Good Idol: Change Agent – Leaders for Social Transformation.” The event began with an opening report delivered by Ms. Daodon Sawatdilarnon, Acting Director of the Division of Student Development, outlining the project’s background and objectives.
As a higher education institution, RUTS is committed to producing and developing skilled professionals of high quality in alignment with the university’s strategic plan. The university strives to establish a modern management system, adapt to change, and enhance the quality of life within communities and society sustainably through innovation. In line with the Standards for Student Affairs (2020) set by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, this initiative supports the mission of fostering discipline, character development, and positive behavior among university students for harmonious coexistence.
The training program aims to enhance the leadership potential of student leaders and staff, empowering them to become change agents and social practitioners. It also seeks to develop them into health communicators capable of reducing risk factors related to drugs and vices within educational institutions, particularly cigarette and e-cigarette use.
Participants, selected from the Hackathon 4 Health Camp, were trained to strengthen their capacity as health-literate communicators through the development of four key competencies:
- Media, information, and digital literacy
- Communication and collaboration
- Leadership for change
- Self-awareness and reflective thinking
