From May 22 to 24, 2024, the Division of Student Development, RUTS, held the Quality Counseling and Encouragement Workshop: Activity 1 – Counselor Skill Training. The workshop featured a team of expert speakers, including medical professionals, academic specialists in counseling, and staff members from the Smile & Smart Center—a center dedicated to supporting and empowering students to become competent, virtuous, and happy individuals.

The training provided both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in counseling skills. Participants included academic and support staff from all faculties, colleges, and campuses (Songkhla, Trang, Saiyai, Thungyai, and Khanom).

At present, RUTS faces a shortage of qualified counseling personnel at the faculty, college, campus, and university levels, which has affected the quality of psychological support services for students and staff. Therefore, this workshop was organized to equip university personnel with knowledge and understanding of counseling principles, processes, and techniques, as well as to develop their potential as student counselors and to strengthen the university’s referral system.

As a result of the program, RUTS personnel have gained greater knowledge and practical skills in providing effective counseling to students. This has enabled them to systematically and promptly address academic and personal issues among students. Consequently, students have shown improvement in their mental well-being and overall happiness.
