On August 3, 2024,  OPS MHESI led a site visit to RUTS (Trang Campus) to follow up on the implementation of the University Transformation Project, focusing on strengthening local entrepreneurship and innovation. The visit, led by Mr. Phanphoemsak Arunee, Director of the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Promotion Division, along with academic and expert committees, highlighted the Palian Pepper Project, which aims to enhance the competitiveness of local pepper producers.

Trang Province is known for its high-quality local Palian black pepper, registered as a Geographical Indication (GI) product. This variety is characterized by its strong aroma and intense spiciness, making it popular in both domestic and international markets, including the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, and Russia. The project seeks to improve productivity, ensure product quality, and create sustainable income for local farmers through an integrated approach covering upstream, midstream, and downstream value chains.

The Palian Pepper Enhancement Project has earned national recognition, receiving an award for Excellence in Applying Knowledge, Intellectual Property, Technology, and Innovation to Strengthen the Production and Service Sector. The initiative involves close collaboration between RUTS, the Provincial Agriculture Office, the Provincial Commerce Office, and local producer groups.

This initiative strengthens the economic resilience of farming communities by promoting sustainable agriculture, local value creation, and technology transfer
