Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) actively promotes transparent, participatory, and accountable governance through structured engagement between elected University Council members, executives, and faculty representatives. On January 25, 2024, RUTS hosted the 235th Meeting of the University Council (Session 1/2024) at Thung Yai Campus, chaired by Prof. Emeritus Dr. Piamsak Menasavet, President of the University Council. The meeting brought together council members, administrators, and faculty representatives to discuss academic policy implementation and institutional strategies, while ensuring open communication across campuses through hybrid participation via Zoom. Following the meeting, the University Council delegation visited the venue for the Thung Yai Agricultural Fair 2024, reinforcing the council’s commitment to supporting academic outreach and community engagement.

Later, on August 29–30, 2024, the 2024 Policy Retreat Seminar was held at Buri Sriphu Hotel, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, providing a platform for University Council members and executives to deliberate on institutional policy directions. The seminar featured expert lectures on “Guidelines for Managing Research, Innovation, and Intellectual Property Toward Commercialization” and “Generating Revenue from Innovation,” fostering dialogue on how governance can enhance research productivity and economic value creation. Additionally, on June 19, 2024, the 5th University Executive Mobile Meeting took place in Thung Song District, promoting decentralized management and inclusive decision-making.

Impact Result:

These activities strengthened participatory governance and accountability mechanisms within the university by facilitating regular engagement between the University Council, executives, and academic personnel. By integrating elected representation in decision-making processes, RUTS enhanced policy transparency, responsiveness, and institutional alignment with national higher education goals. Furthermore, the council’s active field visits and policy retreats fostered collaboration, stakeholder trust, and evidence-based governance, reinforcing the university’s role as a model of democratic, inclusive management in alignment with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
