RUTS Collaborates with Save The Snakes to Develop Snake Conservation Educators and Promote Wildlife Awareness

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), through its Faculty of Science and Technology, collaborated with Save The Snakes, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to snake conservation, to implement the “Snake Communicators” training programme on 27–28 May 2025 in Betong District, Yala Province. Supported by funding from Save The Snakes, the programme involved local wildlife educators and conservation networks, including Nick Wildlife, Betong Lovely Animals Club, and Giant Snake Man.

The programme aimed to develop participants’ knowledge and communication skills in snake conservation, enabling them to educate others about snakes, their ecological importance, and safe human–snake interactions. Through training and knowledge exchange with wildlife specialists, participants gained practical knowledge to support biodiversity conservation and public awareness.

Following the training, participants from the first cohort applied their knowledge by serving as guest speakers for students at Betong Industrial and Community Education College. This follow-up activity demonstrated the practical outcomes of the programme, as trained participants shared their knowledge with younger learners and extended snake conservation education into the local community.

Through financial support from Save The Snakes and collaboration with local conservation partners, RUTS contributed to developing community-based conservation educators and expanding public access to wildlife knowledge. The initiative demonstrates collaboration between the university and an NGO in promoting biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and community engagement.
