Empowering Local Communities through Smart Water Management Education

Advancing Water Management Knowledge in Local Communities

Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) recognises the importance of providing local communities with access to practical knowledge and modern technologies that support effective water management, particularly in agricultural areas where water resources are essential to local livelihoods.

Through its academic expertise and community engagement activities, the university promotes opportunities for local residents to learn about water management practices and the application of technology in agriculture.

Smart Water Management Training for Precision Agriculture

On 20 August 2025, the Faculty of Science and Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya organized a training programme entitled “Smart Farms & IoT: Smart Water Management for Precision Agriculture” at Building 9, CS2 Room, Sai Yai Campus, Thung Song District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, Thailand.

The programme was designed to provide members of local communities and interested members of the public with opportunities to learn about modern agricultural technologies, particularly smart water management and their potential applications in precision agriculture.

By introducing the concept of Smart Farms and the Internet of Things (IoT), the training aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of how technology can support agricultural water management and more efficient use of water resources.

The training was offered free of charge, allowing interested community members to access educational opportunities without financial barriers.

Connecting University Expertise with Community Needs

The training reflects RUTS’s commitment to sharing academic knowledge and technological expertise with communities beyond the university.

By providing accessible learning opportunities in smart agricultural water management, the university supports the development of practical knowledge that local residents may apply to their agricultural activities and future water management decisions.

The initiative also demonstrates the university’s continuing efforts to strengthen community engagement and promote responsible water resource management through education and technology transfer.
