Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornsil Seephueak, the project leader of ‘Utilizing Coarse Soursop Extracts for Pest Control,’ organized an exhibition showcasing soursop extract products during the 11th Thai Resource Conference and Exhibition: 30 Years of Plant Genetic Conservation Project Under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG) with the theme ‘Benefitting Nature and Humanity.’ The event took place at Walailak University from September 19 to 23, 2022. The Soursop extract products showcased at this event are the result of research funded by the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The objective of this initiative is to cultivate human resources by producing researchers and graduates in the field of biodiversity, with the aim of conserving, developing, and supporting research in biodiversity.

The Soursop extract produced can be used for the elimination of plant pests and diseases. A 10% soursop extraction inhibits the Fusarium sp. fungus, which is the cause of wilt disease, and an 8% soursop extraction can inhibit the growth of the Corn weevil.

The use of plant extracts to control pests and plant diseases helps farmers reduce the use of harmful chemicals, preventing soil and water pollution, and promoting biological diversity.
