Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, are actively engaged in promoting SDG 1.4.4, which pertains to “Policy Addressing Poverty.” This involves active participation in policymaking at various levels, be it local, regional, national, or even global, with the ultimate goal of implementing comprehensive programs and policies to eradicate poverty in all its dimensions.

            In line with this commitment, Assistant Professor Sombun Prasongchan and a dedicated team from Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya have embarked on a noteworthy endeavor. They have collaborated with the local governing, the Mae Thom Sub-District Administration Organization, situated in the Bang Klam District of Songkhla Province, to develop a community-centered policy. This policy primarily focuses on sustainable energy development within the community and addresses the persistent issue of organic waste management.

            Throughout the course of this collaborative project, the team has actively engaged in consultations with local leadership and the local governing of the Mae Thom Sub-District. The collective efforts have culminated in the formulation of a comprehensive policy document, titled “Community Waste and Material Management Policy for the Mae Thom Sub-District, Bang Klam District, Songkhla Province.”

            This innovative policy is multifaceted, addressing critical aspects such as energy sustainability and the sustainable management of organic waste in the Mae Thom community by adopting renewable energy sources and implementing effective waste management strategies, the policy aims to empower the community economically and environmentally, thereby contributing to the broader objectives of SDG 1.4.4.
